ICA:UKGB-CC-1090745-TOGThis project will improve education in 8 rural community schools in Zio District of Togo. These schools were created by poor farmers for their children, and are in remote areas where the Government has failed to build schools. The project will provide them teaching and learning materials and train volunteers teaching in these schools so that they become more skilful and make school more interesting and attractive for pupils. Governance and management will be strengthened through the training of Parents’ Associations, and the status of women and girls will be strengthened through awareness-raising on gender issues. The improved schools will contribute towards improved literacy in the communities and facilitate future development initiatives. Income generating projects yielding both short-term and long-term income will be established for the benefit of the schools and teachers.
